『The One You Love』收錄於Glenn Frey自老鷹合唱團單飛後第一張專輯『No Fun Aloud』裡，此張專輯發售日期為1982年5月28日，Billboard專輯排行榜最高名次為第32名，被認證為金唱片；而『The One You Love』此首單曲於Billboard流行單曲排行榜（POP Single）的名次是第15名，於成人榜（Adult Contemporary）則是進佔亞軍席次。Glenn Frey 1948年11月6日出生於密西根州底特律市，為美國著名的音樂人、歌手、作曲家及演員，是超級天團老鷹合唱團（The Eagles）的創始成員之一。Glenn Frey首次參與的唱片錄音，是Bob Seger於1968年錄製『Ramblin' Gamblin' Man』這張專輯時，Glenn Frey擔任電吉他手及幕後合音，由於此次的合作，兩位天王級歌手惺惺相惜，而結成莫逆之交，之後兩人還成為作曲路上的音樂夥伴。老鷹合唱團於1980年解散，1994年再度復合。而此首『The One You Love』正是Frey於1980年單飛後非常重要的單曲，當時台灣一般比較喜歡抒情曲風的成人歌曲，此曲適巧打中台灣學生的心，而成為各大專院校舞會中慢舞的代表曲，其中一段薩克斯風的吹奏，更是經典中的經典，音樂一洩出，保證迷死人，這就是為什麼我一直將它視為，英文歌點唱的秘密武器之一。
